Beijing light wheels

Anyone who watched the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games will have seen 60 of these “light wheels” or “mono wheels” as they were known when first thought up in the 1860’s doing a rather spectacular display. In the last few years I’ve seen Mercedes and Star Wars using similar wheel concepts and a 130 year old monocycle was sold on eBay for $13,000 last year so maybe these are making a come back, maybe we will all be riding these in a few years, who knows…
