This is the new 2009 Scott Genius. Scott have managed to smoothly move the Horst Link patent out of the way by moving the pivot onto the seat stay rather than chain stay. It has carbon dropouts and is available in full carbon (with carbon dropouts) or aluminium. The carbon weighing in at a mere 22lbs for the whole bike. Scott has lengthened the top tube by 13mm which is great...the short/upright ride position was one of the things that put me off the first generation Genius. The travel has also been upped by 10mm to 150mm.
The new rear shock and smart new remote lock out/traction/full travel setings
Almost eclipsed by the Scott is Formula’s new R1 carbon or magnesium levered brakes with a similar layout to the radial Hayes Strokers. These will take over from the existing Bianco and Puro but not the ordinary Oro’s. Weighing in at a mere 280grams, these are very light and available from September.
