Sunday Swift ride

I don’t usually take the Swift for rides around Leith Hill, preferring to take something with gears and suspension. But I seem to be a bit short on those so I loaded the Swift in the car and set off. Once at the car park I unloaded the bike and set off up to the tower. There always seems to be walkers or bikers up there, even at the crack of dawn or in the middle of a blizzard.
Yesterday was the first time I’ve taken the Swift down any of the more technical routes like Summer Lightning. The only thing better than doing it on a rigid SS is doing it at the same speed as I do on my 26er geared suspension bike because there was a group of riders on 6in AM rigs only a little way behind. Aside from a bit of fork rattle and running the tire pressure so low I felt the rims hit a few roots, the Swift handled Summer Lightning much better than I had expected. The short stem/wide bars and grippy tires did a great job through tight corners.

Somehow I managed to find some mud and very deep puddles in the middle of August so I hope there’s a refund coming for this summer…is it possible to sue the jet stream?

It’s a size Large and the standover height hasn’t been an issue for me. These Swift owners on Mtbr seem to have some things to say about standover though…
