Many thanks to Simon, Jackie and Rowan at Nirvana Cycles for giving me 10% off of the retail £1750 so I could actually afford it, swapping a few parts and being the best bike shop anywhere. The ride is great, half way between the Anthem and Trance X so it gets the best of both for me and the kit is all solid stuff. If you haven’t ridden one then they really are brilliant and the Maestro suspension is great so try one or any of Giant‘s Maestro line. This is the summer build, I’ve yet to decide what the winter build will be but I’ll post that later. The stem is very long but somehow with the wide-ish bars and steep head angle it works so I'll leave it.

Hello, I received got a used '08 Trance X1 shipped to me. The front disk brake unit was unbolted for shipping. Could you please tell me how the brake unit bolts onto your fork with respect to the thin washer and the thick washer? The thin washer goes next to the bolt head of course but where does the thick washer fit? On the outside under the bolt head too, or between the brake unit and the U-shaped spacer? Your advice would be appreciated.....Peter
The fork on the Trance X should be a post mount Fox F120 and the brake should have a 180mm front rotor so you want them in this order:
- U-shape adaptor
- Brake calliper
- One thick washer for each bolt
- Then the bolt through the whole lot and tighten it up
I hadn’t noticed there was a thin washer on mine but I would imagine it goes between the thick washer and brake calliper…
